Ari Kaplan is a lawyer, arbitrator and mediator pursuing a PhD in law and emotion at Western University. He is a certified mindfulness meditation teacher trained by Tara Brach and Jack Kornfield and author of the book Toronto Method Mindfulness Handbook: Six Lessons in Embodied and Compassionate Meditation. His course is accredited by the Law Society of Ontario for professionalism and EDI. Ari is currently teaching Canada’s first for-credit law school course on law and emotions at the University of Ottawa. Ari is also facilitating a weekend mindfulness retreat at Sugar Ridge Retreat Centre north of Toronto, from February 7-9, 2025, more information about which is here.
